Progress over perfection. It’s not about being perfect, right? Shouldn’t it be more about the progress we’ve made in the journey of life? Shouldn’t we celebrate the looking back and recognizing the change that has happened in our lives?
We are all in progress. Change is not a one time event. Transformation should be ongoing. It’s about becoming not perfecting.
Don’t get discouraged along the way. You will make mistakes. You will take a step back, but it doesn’t mean you haven’t made any progress. In those times, sit back and reflect on where you were, where you are and where you want to be. All the while enjoying the journey and celebrating PROGRESS! Can we this summer do one thing collectively? Let’s celebrate all of our victories, great or small and encourage one another to keep on moving.
I think it’s super important for us to remember and celebrate our victories each day – reflect on your day and notice the change in you: I didn’t yell at my kids today, it’s been 5 days straight of having my personal time with Jesus, I didn’t fall all over that guy/girl when they looked my way, I didn’t give “Stink eye” when that person ticked me off, instead I responded in love.
One mistake does not white out all the progress you’ve made. So carry on my friend. Proverbs 24:16 says: “A Godly person may fall 7 times, but they will rise again! ” You may have fallen, but it’s time to stand back up, dust yourself off, kick the devil in the teeth and keep on walking! Today I celebrate you and all of your big and small victories! I will stand with you to believe for what is yet to come. Remember, you are brave and full of courage!
